19:30-20:50 课程体验:Insights on Financial Performance through Financial Ratios

Looking at the published financial statements can provide some information about the financial performance of a business. But that information is limited. This is because the core financial statements – the cash flow statement, the income statement, the balance sheet – are made up of absolute figures. To make more sense and to provide insights on the financial performance of the business figures need to be relative: figures linked to other figures, generating financial ratios. In this interactive session we use selected financial ratios to interrogate financial statements relating to profitability performance, and management of the cash cycle.

By the end of this lecture you will:

  • Understand the limitations of financial statements in the context of performance information
  • Understand why and how financial ratios are useful in interrogating financial statement figures to generate useful financial performance information
  • Be able to calculate key profitability performance ratios and interpret their significance
  • Be able to calculate key cash cycle-related ratios and interpret their significance for cash cycle management efficiency
  • Recognise that Accounting as a subject is an integral part of the management skills package and, of course, is interesting, stimulating and exciting!
